"Consuelo opina" (english below)

Recitación de un fragmento del texto de Consuelo Ciscar que introduce el catálogo de la exposición "Construir, Habitar, Pensar: Perspectivas del Arte y la Arquitectura Contemporánea" celebrado en el IVAM en el año 2008.

En este video utiliza la voz en off de una amiga para dar mas similitud. La practica de "lipsynching" ( traducido como "playback" en castellano aunque la traduccion literal es "sincronización de labios") es muy extendido entre las drag queens y transformistas y aqui se utiliza para evidenciar el hecho que este texto firmado por la entonces directora del museo, probablemente no fue escrito por ella.
La política del PP, cortando los servicios públicos mientras dan dinero a empresas y figuras que organizan "actos culturales especiales" como la Bienal de Valencia, La America´s Cup o la Formula Uno demuestra que su política no ha sido dirigido al pueblo, pero a la especulación y el despilfarro.
Es una colaboración con la actriz Isabel Caballero que pone la voz en off que acentua que la que habla no es Consuelo, sino un funcionario que escribe para ella.

Fragment of the introductory text to the catalogue of the exhibition "Construir, Habitar, Pensar: Perspectivas del Arte y la Arquitectura Contemporánea" which took place in IVAM  in 2008 attributed to Consuelo Ciscar.

In this video I use the dubbed voice of a female friend to make my performance of the spanish text more realistic. Lipsynching is a technique used widely by drag queens and although I had never done it before I used the technique in this case to draw attention to the fact that another voice was speaking for me, since it is unlikely that a critical art text such as this would by written by a director who has no professional background in the arts and is basically a politician.
The political agenda pursued by the right wing local PP party, which consists in cutting funding to public services while giving money to private entreprises who organise "special events" such as The Valencian Biennial (now long gone), the America´s Cup or the Formula One prove that their interest lies not with the people but in wasting public funds and speculating in real estate. 
I collaborated with actress Isabel Caballero on the dubbing of the video to emphasise the fact that the one who is speaking is not Consuelo but a ghost writer who produces "her" texts.
